Exhibitions
Enrico d’Assia, Galleria Carlo Virgilio, 20th November 1990 – 12th January 1991, catalogue by L.Arcangeli, Rome 1990
The painting Traveling on the Nile painted by Enrico d'Assia depicts a broken obelisk, lying on a raft filled with logs traveling down the Nile, and its inferior extremity forms a root grove, where the painter represents an ancient statue of the ‘Thinker’. The subject is a pendant of another tempera by d’Assia – set along the shores of the Tiber (Private Collection, Rome) – and beholds some of the artist’s favorite themes: Egypt and ancient sculpture.
